Vinyl Collection and Portable Record Players
In addition to the collection of cds and streaming music available to Grand Rapids Public Library cardholders, our Main Library and West Side branch also offer a large selection of vinyl records available for check-out. Stop by either location to browse vinyl records in a variety of musical genres and use our in-house listening stations to enjoy your favorite music while you’re in the library.
Portable record players are also available for check-out so that you can enjoy music from anywhere!

How long do vinyl records and portable record players check out for?
You may renew your vinyl records up to 2 times. Portable record players are not renewable due to the limited number available.

Where do I return vinyl records and portable record players?
Please return records and portable record players to the Customer Service desk during open hours at any GRPL location. Please do not use library drop boxes to return vinyl records or portable record players.
If materials are damaged while checked out to you, replacement costs may be added to your account.

Can I listen to vinyl records while at the library without a library card?

Yes! While onsite, ask a staff member for help using our in-house record player. Portable record players available for check-out come with instructions.
