You can place a hold on library materials in a couple of ways:
Place a hold via our website.
1. Visit us at www.grpl.org.
2. Click on the My Account button on the right side of the page.
3. Login to your library account with your library card number and password.
Your password is automatically set to the last 4 digits of your phone number, unless you have changed it.
4. Use the Search box at the top of the page to find items that you would like to place on hold.
5. Click the Place Hold button in order to place an item on hold.
6. You will be notified by phone, text, or email when your hold is available for pickup.

What is a hold?
A hold sets aside material for you to pick up. You can place a hold on library material online through your library account or with the help of a staff person. You will receive a notice when your hold is available. During Phase II of our Reopening Plan, we have increased how long you have to pick up your holds, from 7 to 14 days. You can have up to 25 items on hold.
Why should I place a hold?
While the library is closed to the public, a hold is the only way for you to get library materials. When the library is open to the public, placing a hold can be a quick and easy way to grab the things you want from the library. Also, placing a hold on an item that is popular can put you in line to access the item faster than waiting for a copy to be available on the shelf.
How long do I have to pick up a hold?
You will receive a notice when your hold is available. During Phase II of our Reopening Plan, we have increased how long you have to pick up your holds, from 7 to 14 days.
What happens if I don’t pick up my hold in time?
Your hold item will be removed from the hold shelf after 14 days. It will be reshelved, delivered to another location, or placed on hold for another library patron.
How many items can I place on hold at a time?
You can have up to 25 items on hold at a time.
How do I change my hold notification?
You can be notified that your holds are in by text, email and/or phone call. When your library account is set up, the default is phone and email notification. If you would like to change how you are notified, please call 616-988-5400, option 2. Have your library card number handy.
How do I change my hold pickup location?
While you are waiting for your item, you can change your hold pickup location in your online account or over the phone by calling 616-988-5400, option 2. If you have received a notification that your hold is ready for pickup, unfortunately, we will not be able to change your selected pickup location.
