Let’s Talk About Water!
Saturday, October 2, 2021, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
Seymour Branch – 2350 Eastern SE

What do a load of bread, a sheet of paper, and an automobile have in common? Water!
We use water for bathing, drinking, cooking, and so much more. Water is used whether you are eating a pear or writing an essay on a piece of paper. As part of the National Imagine a Day Without Water Campaign, join the City of Grand Rapids Water System in this highly interactive workshop where kids can learn about the many uses of water and how it is interconnected to our everyday life. The workshop will include a virtual tour of the water system, a fun activity, and time set aside for anyone wanting to write their entry for the Water System’s annual creative writing contest.

The writing contest asks students K-12 to imagine what a day would be like if Lake Michigan, our community’s source of drinking water, was empty. To learn more about the contest, visit Imagine a Day Without Water 2021 (grandrapidsmi.gov)

The workshop is designed for upper elementary and middle school students (4th-8th grade), but kids from Kindergarten to 12th grade can enter the writing contest! Learn more.
