We’re always looking for helpful people.
We can set up a regular volunteer schedule for you assisting at your favorite branch or with the Grand Rapids History & Special Collections Department. Or, if you prefer to help out at special events like Taste of Soul Sunday in February or our Summer Reading Challenge, we can keep your information on file and give you a call when we need you. Download and fill out an adult volunteer application. All applications should be turned into the Business Office on Level 5 of the Main Library. Want to help even more? Become a Friend of the Library.
Are you a teen looking to get involved?
Have fun behind the scenes at the Library whether you’re earning your required volunteer hours or looking for something to do! Space is limited. Click here to access the VolunTeen Handbook and find out more on what it means to be part of our Teen Council or a GRPL VolunTeen. Download an application and apply today!
Friends of the Library
A passion for the Library
The Friends of the Library is a group of dedicated volunteers who recognize the vital importance of libraries in our community. Their efforts support the Library and its programs – both financially and with time spent volunteering.
The Friends organize and run the Friends Book Store located on Level 3 of the Main Library. The proceeds from the sales in the shop benefit the library and fund needs that might not be covered in the budget.
Become a Friend of the Library Today
The Friends of the Library welcome volunteers to help run their book store and work at their book sales. Becoming a Friend is easy.
