Magazines and Journals at the Library

  • The library owns literally thousands of magazines and newspapers in print, microfiche, microfilm, and electronic formats. These magazines are located in the Reading Room, our Youth Services Department, the Grand Rapids History and Special Collections Department, and our Retrieval Desk at the Main library, as well as at each of our branches.
  • Search our catalog for specific titles.
  • Search our databases for full-text articles and citations from thousands more magazines and newspapers. Check MeL (the Michigan Electronic Library) to find out if a magazine's full-text articles are included in a database.

CAMIO Catalog of Art Museum Images Online is a growing online collection documenting works of art from around the world, representing the documenting works of art from around the world, representing the collections of prominent museums. CAMIO highlights the creative output of cultures around the world, from prehistoric to contemporary times, and covering the complete range of expressive forms.

SIRS Renaissance Provides full-text aricles on the following topics: architecture and design, culture, literature, multimedia, music, performing arts, philosophy and religion, and visual arts. Many articles are accompanied by full-color images, including art reproductions, photographs, and illustrations.

Archiplanet - Archiplanet is the community-constructed content site for all the buildings and building creators on Earth, sponsored by ArchitectureWeek and GreatBuildings.com. Post and edit the facts, photos, and descriptive drawings here on your favorite buildings of all kinds, anywhere, from your own cottage to your nation's capitol.

Great Buildings Collection - A place to see famous buildings, sometimes in 3-D, from all over the world and across history. This site includes photographs, drawings, commentaries, links to Architecture Week, and much more.

Pritzker Architecture Prize - This site provides current information about the world's most prestigious architecture award and its Laureates.
