It is Children’s Book Week and the library has partnered with the Cook Art Center to explore the interactive book Press Here by Herve Tullet. Hear the book and then do an art project based on the book with an artist from the Cook Art Center operated by Grandville Avenue Arts & Humanities.

Teens, are you looking for a great event to kick off your summer? Wanna brag to your friends how you just showed up somewhere to dance? Need a fun way to earn community service hours? Look no further! The library will hold rehearsals in May and June for teens to participate in a community dance party event. Join Brandi Angelosanto from Artistic Grace for two nights of fun a week (at either location) to learn simple steps for our first flash mob. No dancing experience or skill required. Grab some friends and let’s make it a party!

Join the Science Alliance for this fast-paced insect safari that makes learning about entomology fun!  Investigate the life stories of monarch butterflies, dragonflies, bees, spiders and more. Learn the body parts of insects by labeling a gigantic eight-foot-long ant and praying mantis. Look through crazy goggles to see the world through a bug’s compound eye.  Experience preserved and live insects close up!  Scientist Bill Bosworth will help you have a blast learning about wings and stings and crawly things!

Parents and caregivers are invited to bring their preschool children, ages 3 to 5, to 45-minute classes featuring literacy-rich activities such as interactive storytelling using puppets, dramatic play, and hands-on fun. Related songs, fingerplays, and activities are interspersed between books. Classes end with a fun and creative art activity.

ROCKgarden Party is an interactive, fun, and educational performance about our changing environments. Charlie Kert and Little Fingers Music bring lots of instruments and teach you (Garden Pixies) how to bring the rain by getting them to sing, dance, and drum (GardenGames). Come and help us throw a ROCKgarden Party.

Two artists, a cast of puppets, a variety of vignettes, a suitcase of songs, and a bundle of energy all come together to interact, invigorate, and leave audiences feeling great! Vignettes flow from a dancing garden of fruits and vegetables, puppets becoming puppeteers, a talking shovel, and more!
