If you’ve never canned before, or are looking for more delicious tomato sauce recipes, join Anja Mast, co-owner of Trillium Haven Farm and Trillium Haven restaurant, and the farm’s “canning specialist”, Mindy Hamstra, for a tomato canning extravaganza day, Sunday August 12.
Sign up and learn all about the different varieties of tomatoes, different kinds of sauces, the ins-and-outs of actual cooking and canning the sauces, and finally, get to taste some of Trillium Haven Farm’s very favorite recipes. Please choose 9:00am, 11:30am or 2:00 pm when registering. All participants will bring home a jar of stewed tomatoes and recipes for Roasted Heirloom Tomato Sauce, Marinara Sauce, Fast Tomato Sauce, and Italian-Style Tomato Sauce.
Uptown Kitchen, our Community Partner, is generously allowing us to use their beautiful facility located behind Wolfgang’s at 423 Norwood.
Anja will also be taking us on a special tour of the Fulton Street Farmer’s Market the morning before the extravaganza (Saturday, August 11 at 8:00) to introduce us to the wide variety of tomatoes available and the farmers who grow them.
