I am one of those unorganized organized people. I may have a pile of stuff, but I can almost always tell you what is in it or where to find something. I even, once, told someone where to find something over the phone, down to how far back in the filing cabinet it could be found. So, I’m not one of those people who every year makes the resolution to become organized or do organizing. However this year, I’ve been on a streak. It’s almost like I’m nesting or something (which I may be although not in the traditional sense, but that’s a different post)! Last Monday, on my day off, I decided my extra (read JUNK) room needed to be cleaned out and organized. Really all that is in there are old papers, gift bags to reuse, a filing cabinet, books and toys for my nieces and nephews when they visit. You know. Junk. Well, upon cleaning a part of it, I found a bag of various things (magnets, screwdrivers, paperclips, etc) that I knew I had but thought I lost! I purchased and moved into this house just over 2 years ago, and my lack of complete unpacking and organization had these things in moving limbo. Amazing what you can find when you unpack. Or organize.
While I’m at work, I often find I am too distracted with other projects (selecting books for the purchasers to get for the branch, programming, meetings, scheduling, shifting my ENTIRE collection…you get the idea). Today, I was inspired, though! I tackled the staff area. It’s a small branch with a small staff area/break room, and the messiness just finally got to me. And you know what? The now (mostly) organized room feels great! Maybe I should organize more often….Next up. My desk. *sigh*
