The Small Business Resource Center – Open for your Business!

Do you have what it takes to be an entrepreneur? Do you have the guts, creativity, and skills to join the ranks of America’s small business owners? If so, great; you’ve come to the right place!

According to the Small Business Association, half of all small businesses fail within the first ten years. That’s a scary statistic, but you can increase your chances of success with a plan built with the right information, the information available in the Grand Rapids Public Library Small Business Resource Center. In addition to a great collection of business information resources, both print and digital, we also offer a curriculum of small business classes in everything from market research to social media! Our next class ‘Using Facebook to Promote Your Business,’ will be held on February 23rd from 1:00 to 3:00, followed by our Market Research Series held in partnership with the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center beginning March 6th.

Further, are you planning on being a social entrepreneur, looking to instigate change? As a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center, we also support non-profit entrepreneurs with extensive resources, and classes too! Come attend our next class, ‘Intro to Finding Funders,’ on February 9th.

    Steve:

Does the GRPL offer classes in Excel, Quickbooks, or other such programs? Are these classes accessible on line?

      Sondra,

We definitely have resources that can help you with that. Here at GRPL we have a variety of classes in all sorts of programs, including spreadsheets. If you are looking for resources pertaining to specific programs, you can access Learning Express Library through our online databases page; this database has training in a variety of programs, including Excel, Word, and Dreamweaver. Within our Business Collection, we have a variety of texts pertaining to Quickbooks as well.
