Taste of Soul Food Vendor: Selam Store Tastes Like Awesome!

Today I will highlight one of the food vendors for this years Taste of Soul Event.

Selam Store is located in a nondescript storefront that many may overlook as they drive or walk by. Your only clue for the delectable treats inside is a sign that says “WE NOW SERVE EAST AFRICAN HOT LUNCH”. Selam Store serves Eritrean/Ethipoian food. The dishes are to be eaten with your hands (no forks) so be sure to wash your hands before dining.

My first experience with Selam Stores food was with a coworker who is a vegetarian. We would get the vegetarian platter. I couldn’t tell you the matter, divison, or even origin of these vegetables but they are magic. I have never tasted such good food ESPECIALLY for the price. You can get a vegetable platter and some spicy tea for like 6 bucks. 6 bucks! Can you believe that? Instead of eating fast food I really should just go to Selam Store but sometimes I fail. They do have meat products for all you carnivores.

Well if you in any way doubt the wholesome goodness of this food, come get free samples of Selam Store’s food at our Taste of Soul Event on February 21. We have a lot of programs to both educate and entertain plus food 🙂

Hope to see you there!

The platter is definitely the way to go if you are new to this kind of food. Then you and your friends can share and you just sample a bit of everything.

I wish I could make an invention like that scientist from "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs". You know, a machine that changes water molecules into food. I would make it rain Ethiopian food everyday.
