Rhythm & Books: A Library Music Festival for Kids

Join us in front of the Main Library to kick off summer reading! Celebrate culture and community with music, food, crafts, and fun! Meet new friends and learn new songs from renowned children’s performers 123 Andrés, Scribble Monster, and Beverly Meyer–The Music Lady! Get signed up for the 2018 Summer Reading Challenge too!

Animal Magic

Mark Rosenthal uses music to introduce his amazing animal ambassadors! He plays popular and obscure music clips and shares little known facts about each animal. His unique blend of exotic animals, life sciences, and magic make this an extremely educational and highly entertaining show. Mark was even voted Nickelodeon’s Michigan Entertainer of the Year!

Reginald Pettibone’s Native American Dance and Cultural Program

Champion powwow dancer and Native American from the Ho-Chunk Nation, Reg Pettibone presents a unique program that introduces you to this nation’s cultural past in a whole new way. Along with his wife Marca, from the Paiute Nation, Reg draws on his traditional upbringing to provide a better understanding of true Native American culture through dance, song, stories, and more!

Lawn Party Extravaganza

As part of our GR Reads program, bring the whole family for a trip down the rabbit hole to celebrate summer and all things Alice in Wonderland! Giant lawn games, Alice in Wonderland-themed crafts, and tasty treats will make or a fun-filled morning for kids of all ages. This program will be held rain or shine.
