STOP! Harvest Time.

I don’t know about you (not since they took my binoculars away), but I look forward with unsettling anticipation to autumn every year. Why, you ask? Is it Artprize? Nope. Is it Halloween? Kind of, but nay. Could it be the pretty leaves and brisk weather? Well, that’s a given, but let’s get real for a hot minute, ya dig?

No, gentle and scholarly Grand Rapidians. It’s the food. The noms. The glorious gourds of unnatural shapes, the caramelized cornucopia haunting your foodiest dreams, the candy mountains that spread across Meijer like brushfire, the pies, the ciders, the soups – I MEAN DO YOU HEAR WHAT I’M SAYING?

So if you’re anything like me and regularly sing modified show tunes to your food while cooking it love autumnal treats and goodies, then peep some of these titles and give me a call when the food is ready, my phone number is – wait, nevermind. I think we should just be friends. But don’t hesitate to drop by and pick some of these up, the recipes inside will have you seeing scarecrows and singing hayride tunes (no I don’t actually know if those exist, but level with me here) well into December.

I sing big band ballads and sip wine while cooking. And, although this isn't on the shelf, it's definitely a keeper. It's my Thanksgiving mainstay. The sauce takes a while but is SOOOO worth it (more songs, more wine…what's the problem?)

Feeling hungry. Very hungry. As soon as September rolled around I started putting a soup or chili on the menu every week.
