It is closing in on 1 year since I moved into my new, for me, home. When I went through it the very first time, I didn’t pay much attention to the various foliage. I had, out of nowhere, finally sold my old home and was desperate to find a new one. So, I walked through the open house. I didn’t think it was the house for me. The bathroom was too small! I proceeded to go through countless others. Finally, I asked my realtor to take me back to that first one since, even though the bathroom was tiny, it didn’t need much work like so many I had looked at did! He did, and I did fall in love with it. At this point, it was mid summer and there were many lovely blooms. Summer blooms. So this spring I have been patiently waiting to see what might pop up! I will confess I am only a few years into actually caring about any type of garden but now that I do, it’s very exciting to see what’s there! Sadly, I haven’t noticed any daffodils, unless they’re something my dog dug up. I do have many patches of hyacinth, and it took me a while to figure out what they were. (I know, I am ashamed) They smell wonderful! I have some gorgeous zebra grass and in very late winter checked what should be done with it. I was thankful to learn that the pruning was done in early spring not the fall. Whew! Now let’s just hope I didn’t kill it while pruning it. I have noticed lots of irises popping up, and I even noticed a bloom forming. I have so many other plants I am just dying to see! Although it would be fun to plant some of my own favorites, so much appreciation is owed to the former owners! And I do have a well shaded area that is in dire need of some plants…..
