West Michigan Therapy Dogs are providing free opportunities for youth to read to a trained therapy dog at two of our locations.
At Yankee Clipper sessions are available on Saturdays, October 9 -23. West Leonard Branch is offering them on October 11-25. Registration is required. The sessions will be more effective if you can come all three weeks at the same time, so please sign up for all 3 weeks if you can.
West Michigan Therapy Dogs and their handlers provide an encouraging and non-judgmental environment in order to develop confidence in reading. This program is for independent readers of any age. I had a Grand Rapids Public School teacher call and tell me what a wonderful opportunity this is for English as a second language learners.
If you are wondering about the effectiveness of therapy dogs, you may want to read The Lost Dogs: Michael Vick’s Dogs and Their Tale of Rescue and Redemption by Jim Gorant.
Any questions, call Yankee Clipper Branch at 988-5415 or West Leonard Branch at 988-5416.

I'm visiting the "Vicktory Dogs" in 2 weeks. I can't wait!
