Books-By-Mail Program
A free service for the homebound

The Grand Rapids Public Library offers a FREE Books By Mail Program to those who are homebound due to illness, disability, or age. Residents of the Grand Rapids area may participate. The Books By Mail Program provides participants with:

  • Delivery to your door or mailbox.
  • Many current titles and authors, including some in large-print format
  • A selection of books-on-tape.
  • Easy, postage-free return.

Another great resource is the Kent District Library for the Blind and the Physically Handicapped (LBPH) located in the Wyoming Branch of Kent District Library. Cassette book machines, magazines in braille, plus a wide variety of books on cassette and in braille are available through the LBPH. They can be contacted at 616-647-3980, then press 8.
