Ain't it Cool News - A cinephile from Austin operates this site which is filled with hot news on upcoming films. Includes reviews, forums, as well as television news. Does not include celebrity gossip.

AMG All-Movie Guide - Colossal searchable database with film suggestions, interviews, a plotfinder, glossary, and much more. Affiliated with the All Music Guide publication.

British Pathe - One of the oldest media companies in the world, this site showcases an extensive film archive and media stills. Many of the items available are for purchase only.

Earlycinema.com - Provides information about the early history of film. Pioneers of the film industry, technology, and time lines are some of the resources available at this site.

Greatest Films - Contains plot summaries and commentary for some of the best Hollywood and American classic films. Includes numerous lists such as the American Film Institute's 100, Movieline's 100, Premiere's 100, etc. Includes links to a vintage poster store.

Internet Movie Database - The Internet movie site. Covers over 119,000 films with reviews, credits, user ratings, plot summaries, merchandising links, technical specifications, etc.

Masters of Cinema - This site focuses on, but is not limited to, the work of major directors. Articles, biographies, and links to all kinds of pertinent information are just a few of the offerings here.

Movie Review Query Machine - More than 25,000 movie reviews are covered in over 185,000 reviews.

Oscars - Everything you always wanted to know about the award known as the "Oscar," given out in recognition of the best in American film. This is the official Oscar site from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. It contains a searchable database to answer all of your burning questions about who won (or didn't win) an Oscar (including the technical and foreign language categories). You can also take a look at what people wore, test your movie IQ, and view movie posters.

Rottentomatoes.com - This comprehensive website gathers together reviews of current movies from newspapers, magazines, and other sources. You can also see reviews of movies that are on VHS or DVD. The movie is rated on a "tomatometer" rating scale between "fresh" and "rotten." Before you spend money on a movie, spend some time checking out this site!

Zap2it.com - Enter your zip code and find the movies playing near you. You can read a review, see showtimes, do everything but buy the popcorn! Even more, you can get the latest Hollywood news about upcoming films, and find out which ones are being released on video or DVD this week.

Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (UICA) - Alternative film theater located at 41 Sheldon SE in downtown Grand Rapids (454-7000).

Wealthy Theater - Part of the non-profit Grand Rapids Community Media Center, the historic Wealthy Theatre offers film, drama, and more to the Grand Rapids community.

Classic TV - A good site for information on "classic" TV shows (must have been off the air for 3 seasons). You can find out when the show was on the air, who starred in it, and which character they played. You can also find the lyrics to the show's theme song. Ever wanted to know the words to the Adam's Family theme? It's in here!

Dead or Alive - Almost everyone has, at one time or another, watched TV or a movie and wondered if the person on the screen was still alive. This site answers that question and provides links to other similar sites.

Emmys - Published by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, this site contains a searchable database of ALL Emmy Award nominees and winners from 1949 to the present. It includes technical, as well as acting, categories.

Encyclopedia of Television - More than 1,000 short essays covering all aspects of television. Well written, and fairly comprehensive.

TV.com - TV.com covers just about every show, episode, actor, line, opinion, bit of trivia, and programming option on television.
