Love reading and talking about books? Interested in stories about the people and places around the Great Lakes? If so, grab a friend or two and join our Reading the Great Lakes book discussion group! We’ll read a range of titles including mystery, history, fiction, and nonfiction all taking place in the Great Lakes region – from Chicago to Cleveland.
The first meeting is September 6th at 7:00pm in the Vander Veen Center on the 4th floor of the Main Library, during which we will discuss our first selection, South of Superior by Ellen Airgood, a 2012 Michigan Notable Books selection, this book follows main character Madeline Stone’s move from Chicago to the fictional town of Mac Allaster, Michigan on the southern shore of Lake Superior, a move that teaches her about where she came from and who she is.
This book club is ongoing and takes place the first Thursday of every month in the Vander Veen Center on the 4th floor of the Main Library. Additional copies of South of Superior and other upcoming selections are available at the Local History desk on the 4th floor of the Main Library.
