Open Call!

The African American Heritage Committee is asking that any local speakers and performers interested in participating in Taste of Soul Sunday on February 20, 2011, or other related events, send an email to

The Committee seeks to provide programs that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of African Americans and meet the specific interests and needs of the Grand Rapids African American community. Taste of Soul Sunday is a day-long, family-friendly event that celebrates African American History Month. The event, now in its sixth year, features music and dance performances and presentations on the history and culture of African Americans. We are also interested in providing programs specifically for children and teens.

Tell us about yourself, your act, and how you can help the Library celebrate the rich history and heritage of African Americans. Provide links to your website, your videos, or any other relevant information. Submissions will be accepted through Friday, September 10, 2010.
