Diana Ross, The Supremes, The Four Tops, The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Marvelettes, The Miracles, The Temptations, The Contours, Martha and the Vandellas, The Velvelettes, The Spinners, The Monitors, The Originals, Gladys Knight & the Pips, and many other groups were part of Motown and “The Motown Sound.”
What was it like to be a part of Motown and R&B in Detroit during that time? As part of GR Reads, Dr. Matthew Daley will present Hitsville USA: Detroit and the Rise of Motown Records on Tuesday, July 23 at 7:00pm in the Auditorium at the Main Library.
