This publicly elected board has two seats up for election in November 2017. Interested parties should be 18 years of age or older and a resident of the City of Grand Rapids. The deadline to file to run is Tuesday, April 25 at 4:00 pm. Individuals who wish to run for the Grand Rapids Public Library Board must either obtain a minimum of forty (40) and no more than one-hundred (100) valid signatures on petition forms or submit a non-refundable fee of $100.00 to the Grand Rapids City Clerk’s Office. A publicly elected Board of Library Commissioners governs the Grand Rapids Public Library. The seven Commissioners are elected to 6-year terms. Board meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. and are open to the public.
