The Golden Globes may be in their 70th year. The Oscars may be in their 85th year! But Taste of Soul Sunday, THE premier event in Grand Rapids celebrating African American culture, is in its EIGHTH year! We, too, will be having live musical events (check out the schedule for the Ryerson auditorium). We, too, will be having drama (Miz Rosie will portray Coretta Scott King at 2:30pm in the Ryerson Auditorium). We, too, will be holding our event on a Sunday (February 17, 2013). But that’s where the similarities end (unless we find a red carpet between now and then)!
You won’t have to listen to long, boring acceptance speeches. You won’t have to sit through commercial breaks. Instead you will have the opportunity to sample food from three area vendors. You will be able to bring kids along to enjoy a craft and other entertainment. And you won’t have to sit passively by and observe because we will be celebrating by not only listening but also learning and discussing. Join us from 1:00pm – 4:00pm! Who needs one of those little statues anyway?
