Hey Grand Rapids – Are You Ready to Read?

Well then do we have something for you!

Starting June 1, the Grand Rapids Public Library launches its brand-spankin’ new GR Reads — summer reading all grown up. We have selected 10 books set in Michigan or by Michigan authors for you to read throughout the summer and have created–count ’em–27 events related to the books for you to kick back and enjoy this summer. Everything from cemetery tours, a visit from a psychic, movies (Flash Gordon anyone?) in partnership with The Meanwhile Bar at Wealthy Street Theatre, cooking classes, even a community potluck. We are hosting 7 of the 10 authors, sipping some wine at Schuler Books and discussing National Book Awards, exploring faith and our personal histories.

Get ready GR, your summer just got a whole lot more interesting.

Just a quick thanks to GRPL for this great program! The first book, STITCHES, was absolutely amazing. Yesterday, I picked up the Wade Rouse book and it, too, looks fantastic.

I am hoping there will be more books ordered, as I've had to put each title on hold so far. Glad, though, that the response has been so positive as to have this problem!
