Helping animals

My rescue kitty, Carl

Do you want to be a hero for an animal in need? Join us for a two part series to learn how to help make sure that every dog and cat has a safe, loving home to call their own with our Animal Rescue Family Education Series.

This series kicks off this weekend with Crash’s Landing and Big Sid’s Sanctuary. Crash’s is a non-profit, no-kill, cage-free cat rescue and placement center in Grand Rapids. Families will learn all about how Crash’s Landing takes at-risk stray cats off the streets of Grand Rapids and provides them with veterinary care and housing until they can be adopted into a new home. Come learn how to get involved in the Kid’s Club for Cats and learn why every animal needs a good home! There will also be a few kitty ambassadors on hand to help! Visit us this Saturday at 1 pm at the downtown Main Library.

Then join us on Saturday, August 25th to meet the dogs of Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary, also called the Mack Pack.  Mackenzie’s is the midwest’s largest sheltered no-kill sanctuary for dogs. Located in Lake Odessa, their main focus is to find loving homes for abused, abandoned and neglected dogs. Families can learn about the good work of Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary. Discover how they taken in homeless dogs and provide them with medical care, housing and training. Learn how you can get involved – either by volunteering or adopting an animal – and learn some basic tips for approaching a dog for the first time, what to do if you encounter a strange dog and more!
