Once upon a time in 2010 author Neil Gaiman decided there were not enough book giving holidays in the world (can there ever be enough?). In order to rectify this he wrote a blog post proposing that during the week of Halloween people should gift each other with scary reads. Now this isn’t in lieu of giving out candy on Halloween (no one wants their house to be adorned with eggs and toilet paper), but adding a touch of the macabre to someone’s Halloween week. Since his post the holiday has been dubbed All Hallows’ Read and seems to be making its way around tumblr and gaining popularity. If you want a little more information on All Hallows’ Read check out their website’s FAQ section.
