Grandma Ehlers' Never-Fail Brownies

From GRIP

Alice Doorn Ehlers, born 1902 in the Netherlands, arrived as a teenager in Grand Rapids with her mother and older sister, knowing virtually no English. She married John Ehlers (born 1899) and with him raised a family of four children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A visit to Grandma Ehlers' house was never complete without a glass of orange soda and some of grandma's brownies.
