Over seven years ago, I moved to from a small town in mid-Michigan to Grand Rapids to attend Grand Valley State University. During this time, I fell in love with the city and the community established here. After graduating I couldn’t pull myself away from the city and now consider Grand Rapids my permanent home.
Apparently, others are taking notice to our city as well. Recently, RelocateAmerica.com just released its Top 10 cities to Live, and Grand Rapids placed in second best place to live out of the 100s of other cities around America.
Last Wednesday, Forbes named Grand Rapids one of the Best Cities for Raising a Family. Forbes reasoning for this honor include the low cost of living (compared to other large cities), affordable housing, and low crime rates.
You can get to know the city even better by visiting our Local History department to learn more about the history of Grand Rapids, or check out one of our Circulating Memberships, which allow you to visit local attractions such as Frederick Meijer Gardens, the public museum, and more – for free!
