Free YA and Classic Audiobook Downloads

You may be used to downloading audiobooks from GRPL’s digital catalog or checking out audiobooks on CD. This summer audiobook publishers’ and AudioFile Magazine have joined forces to give you a third option. They are offering two free audiobook downloads a week for the next two and a half months through a program called SYNC. Here is what they have to say:

“The audiobook pairings will include a popular YA title and a classic that connects with the YA title’s theme and is likely to show up on a student’s summer reading lists. For example, Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone, the first book in a new series about a girl who opens a door to two otherworldly cities at war, will be paired with Charles Dicken’s A Tale of Two Cities.”

The books are available to download at the SYNC website, and are in MP3 format, though you will need the Overdrive Media Console (the same program you use to download GRPL digital audiobooks). Check out the full list of releases to avoid missing a title. Each pair of books will be available to download for one week, but once you have them you can listen to them anytime. I am a big fan of audiobooks, and am excited to check out some new authors and get reacquainted with a few classics.

Head to the SYNC website today to download the first week’s titles, The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch and The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. Can you guess what this week’s theme is?
