Michigan Notable Books Homecoming for Celebrated Authors

Grand Rapids Public Library and the Library of Michigan have joined together to celebrate Michigan Notable Book authors from West Michigan. This special evening celebrates nine Michigan Notable authors and features a keynote presentation by Wade Rouse. Space is limited and registration is required. For ages 21 and over. Parents and caregivers are invited to bring their preschoolers, ages 3 to 5, to 45-minute classes featuring literacy-rich activities such as interactive storytelling using puppets, dramatic play, and hands-on fun. Related songs, fingerplays, and activities are interspersed between books. Classes end with a fun and creative art activity.

Let’s Play! is a four-week workshop for children 0-5 and their parents or caregivers. Let’s Play! teaches the benefits of interactive play. Each week an early childhood specialist will be available to answer questions parents may have about their child’s development. Families must attend all four sessions. The YMCA Veggie Van is West Michigan’s first and only mobile farmers market. The Veggie Van runs year round, making daily stops in urban neighborhoods throughout Grand Rapids, assuring that fruits and vegetables are available to people who otherwise have limited access to fresh produce. We sell locally grown, top-quality fruits and vegetables at reduced prices. Additionally, we accept SNAP, WIC, and Senior Project Fresh/Market FRESH benefits. Using the Foundation Directory Online Professional, students will compile a list of foundation prospects that match their organization’s needs.
