Family Comic Night

Panelists will discuss if comics are educations, how they have evolved over time, and the elements of comics. Discover how to use pictures and words to share stories with each other and create a 4-panel comic. Panelists include cartoonist Sam Carbaugh, Comics in Literature student Mary Hancock, and Charley Tucker from Vault of Midnight. An all ages workshop.

When is the last time you got to shoot a bow and arrow? In this class, led by a USA Archery certified instructor, you’ll get an introduction to archery, including range safety, basic equipment, shooting stance and form, and shot execution. Parents and caregivers are invited to bring their preschoolers, ages 3 to 5, to 45-minute classes featuring literacy-rich activities such as interactive storytelling using puppets, dramatic play, and hands-on fun. The Veggie Van runs year round, making daily stops in urban neighborhoods throughout Grand Rapids, assuring that fruits and vegetables are available to people who otherwise have limited access to fresh produce.
