Living History and The Colored Car: The Backstory

Sharing the process of researching and writing her latest book, author Jean Alicia Elster will provide the backstory to the creation of The Colored Car. Elster will also explore the challenge of keeping historical authenticity within the plot while creating a storyline and characters that will engage twenty-first century readers. ACT Prep Workshop

Be A Teen Director: Special Effects

The Be A Teen Director series takes teens through the process of making a short film—including writing a script, shooting a film, editing, creating original music, and screening the finished film. Teens ages 11-19 can learn to use the equipment needed to film a movie. In this class, students will learn to add computer special effects to their film with green screens. Snacks provided.

Teens ages 11-19 can learn to use the equipment needed to film a movie. In this class, a professional graphic designer will help students create an animated short. Drawing skills are not necessary.
