ACTion Drummers: Performance and Hands-on Drumming Experience

The ACTion Drummers, directed by percussionist and world music instructor Joshua Dunigan, are part of the Artists Creating Together organization, which empowers people with disabilities. Families are invited to come hear the drummers and get a chance to do their own playing! All ages welcome.

Founded in 2009 by friends in Grand Rapids, the Kent County String Band is a five-piece ensemble that specializes in classic standards, traditional bluegrass, and turn of the century Americana. Employing the traditional string band lineup of violin, mandolin, guitar, banjo, and upright bass, these experienced musicians present a good-time take on old-time tunes and stellar standards of yesteryear.

Music in the Stacks: Ghost Heart

Since forming six years ago, Ghost Heart has been captivating audiences with its distinctive style of boundary-pushing rock music. The four-piece band released its acclaimed debut album, The Tunnel, in 2011, and had performed extensively throughout the Midwest and East Coast. In late 2014, Ghost Heart released the release of its second album, The Effigy, which, like its predecessor, was recorded to analog tape at the Goon Lagoon in Grand Rapids. It contains whale noises.
