DNA Mystery (with apologies to Philip K. Dick)

It was spring, and it was going to be a tough one. I needed a specialty animal, and decided that the only way would be to order up a genetically designed canine. A Designer Dog in short, but far ahead of earlier models. Could the area animal processing facilities fulfill my demands? I checked a few out– they could…  The product, Nikki, surpassed all expectations. People are curious of course… “What’s up with that dog?” they wonder. Because it’s almost impossible to tell her from a regular animal. When they ask, I say “Lemme tell you about her mother…” Beauty and the beast. This miniature breed was designed to hunt and kill that fearsome beast, the Mole. At day’s end, when she has left no stone unturned, no flower bed unscathed, I say, “You’ve done a Dog’s job, Nikki!”
