Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) on November 2 is a Mexican holiday that honors the dead. People build altars called an ofrenda (offering) at home and in cemeteries in remembrance of friends or relatives who have died. Altars contain objects that the deceased liked, for example their favorite drink or food and objects that were important to them.
