11:00 am Clifford the Big Red Dog art activity with the Cook Arts Center
Ryerson Auditorium | Level 3

    

An artist from the Cook Arts Center will lead a craft activity based on the Clifford the Big Red Dog books. Each child will have the opportunity to make a bright red set of puppy ears as well as their own personalized doggy bone.

Award-winning children's author, Lisa Wheeler, will talk briefly about classic children's books and how they have influenced the books being written today. She will read from at least two of her popular children's books.

Come to the Training Center and begin your training as a Tribute. Practice your archery skills and dart-throwing, identify poisonous plants, learn to tie knots and apply camouflage! Test your knowledge of the Hunger Games books in the trivia challenge. Many may enter, only one may win...

Discover the rain forest inspiration and Midwest garden goofiness behind April Pulley Sayre's 50+ books. Explore voice and its role in transforming simple nonfiction ideas into read aloud, playful prose. Get a behind-the-scenes video look at her 2010 book, He's a Howler. Then find out why fish names are tongue-tangled and just plain funny.

A blissful array of poems to touch the mind, body and soul. Born Raynard Valentino Yentzer on February 14, 1984, Romeo Ray has done many poetry events, slams and contests, winning most of them. Bring your original poetry for this fast-paced slam that will leave you moved beyond measures.

Book Signings

Authors will be available after their events to sign books. Books will be available for purchase from Pooh's Corner. Twenty percent of all book sales benefit the Grand Rapids Public Library Foundation.
