Beep Beep! Yum Yum! The YMCA’s Veggie Van is about to make weekly stops at the Main Library!
Every Tuesday from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, Veggie Van staff will host weekly a farmers market on Level 3 of the Main Library – 111 Library St NE. The majority of the products sold are from Michigan farms, and are organic. Each week, the YMCA sends out an email listing what products will be available. They also offer the ability to pre-order and have it ready for pick up. To sign up for the email and to pre-order, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Items include: apples, beets, brussel sprouts, cheese, eggs, kale, hummus, quiche and much more. Items available vary by season.
The YMCA Veggie Van is West Michigan’s first and only mobile farmers market. Since the Veggie Van first hit the road in August 2011, they have provided healthy, fresh produce to nearly 17,000 individuals in our community. A majority of these individuals live in Grand Rapids’ designated food deserts, neighborhoods in which food establishments are limited to gas stations and corner stores. The Veggie Van partners with nearly a dozen local farmers, several of whom depend on Veggie Van sales for their primary source of income.
The Veggie Van debuts at GRPL on February 4 and takes all forms of payment including cash, check, credit/debit, SNAP, WIC, and Senior Project Fresh/Market FRESH benefits.
