City Park Clean-Up Volunteer Program

Kids get to enjoy reading throughout the summer and they get to enjoy many summer programs, so why not offer adults some of this same fun? Well, the Grand Rapids Public Library is doing just that, with the GR Reads program. Ten books have been chosen for adults to read and 35 FREE events related to these books have been scheduled throughout the summer – all for adults to enjoy. Check it out at, www.grpl.org/grreads.

The book, Detroit City is the Place To Be, by Mark Binelli, talks about efforts to revitalize the City of Detroit. In keeping with that idea, we have scheduled a City Park Clean-Up Program for Saturday, August 3, 10 am to noon, at the Alger Park (corner of Edna St. & Blaine Ave). Everyone can meet at the splash pad.

Enjoy the outdoors while helping to clean up a city park. Green spaces are vital for all of us. Whether we’re walking or jogging through a park, taking our kids to play on the playgrounds, walking our dogs or just sitting on a park bench, we need our parks.

Let’s pitch in with the Friends of the Grand Rapids Parks organization, www.friendsofgrparks.org, and help scrape and paint the splash pad at Alger Park. Bring your work gloves and lots of energy.
