Historic Preservation in Grand Rapids
The Grand Rapids History & Special Collections department of the Grand Rapids Public Library is featuring a new exhibit on Preservation in Grand Rapids. The exhibit was designed by Michael Moore, Graphics Illustrator for the City. Rhonda Baker, from the Historic Preservation Commission of the City Planning Department, did the intellectual content for the exhibit and GRHC scanned many of the historic photos. The exhibit focuses on the five historic districts: Heritage Hill, Heartside, Cherry Hill, Wealthy Street and Fairmont Square. The Michigan Historic Preservation Network will be holding their annual Statewide Preservation Conference in Grand Rapids on May 14-16, 2009. The Grand Rapids Public Library is proud to host the Network’s annual board meeting and show off our lovely renovated building. Stop by the fourth floor of the Main Library and see the remarkable progress our city has made in historic preservation.
