It’s about that time to consider The Noughties, the decade that was (2000-2009). Ten years ago all the talk was about the changing of the century, let alone the coming of a new millennium and the great promises it was to offer. Well, among the paranoia of Y2K, the end of the world and one crazy election, the fact that we had a new decade to escape The Nineties from eluded so many social radars that many folks didn’t even know it had a real name, The Noughties (which combines the British English term nought, meaning zero, with our colloquial naming of decades to end in -ties).
So what of these last ten years?! While I’m sure history books will tie our current social and cultural experiences to the big news stories of our day and smarter people will opine on the how our everyday existence has been altered by new forms of media and communication*, let’s just have fun by remembering and debating the best consumer art/entertainment that has touched, or missed, our lives these past years.

I love this stuff, and since you mentioned "truthiness," I thought I'd throw a few word lists in –
