Environmental Info Expo

Saturday, April 23 | 10:00 am - 4:00 pm| Main Library

The Grand Rapids Public Library and the West Michigan Environmental Action Council have partnered to host an Environmental Information Expo at the Main Library. Organizations from throughout the county and beyond will be on hand to share information about their work in the community and ways you can get involved. Get tips, activities, and ideas. Participating organizations include Local First of West Michigan, Friends of GR Parks, Blandford Nature Center, and the Alliance for Environmental Sustainability.

Container Gardenings

Container gardening makes gardening possible for anyone who has access to a bit of sunshine. Members of Heartside Gardeners will help you create a container garden - great for those without yards! Participants will leave with a bucket of Snap Peas or Potato seedlings.

Vermicomposting

Let worms eat your garbage! Vermicomposting, or worm composting, is a way to compost your plant and vegetable waste indoors, all year round. Blandford Nature Center staff will teach you how to make your very own worm bin. Participants will receive detailed instructions on the creation and upkeep of a complete worm compost bin. A finished container, complete with worms ready to munch and recycle those kitchen scraps will be raffled off at each event.
