Film and Discussion: Fresh

Wednesday, April 20 | 6:30 pm | Main Library Ryerson Auditorium | Level 3

The rapid transformation of our agriculture into an industrial model lead to consequences: food contamination, environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources and obesity. Looking to forge healthier, sustainable alternatives, Fresh celebrates the farmers, thinkers, and businesses across America who are re-inventing our food system. After the viewing, speakers from the Greater Grand Rapids Food Systems Council and Heartside Gardeners will explain their organizations' roles in our community and discuss the film with the audience.

Film and Discussion: Tapped

Thursday, April 21 | 7:00 pm | Main Library
Ryerson Auditorium | Level 3

Is access to clean drinking water a basic human right, or a commodity that should be bought and sold like any other article of commerce? Stephanie Soechtig's debut feature Tapped is an unflinching examination of the big business of bottled water. After the viewing, a panel will discuss the film and local water issues with the audience.
