50 + or older?

A few events are coming up for those 50 and older.  Both will be held on Thursday, September 24, and both involve a nationally recognized scholar, author and speaker, Dr. Harry Moody, Executive Director of the AARP Office of Academic Affairs in Washington DC.

The first event will be held in the afternoon at the Main Grand Rapids Public Library’s Ryerson Auditorium starting at 1:00 pm.  Dr. Moody will be speaking on “Recycling the Life Cycle: Civic Engagement in an Aging Society.”  Following his talk, a panel of community agency representatives will provide information on some of the unique volunteer opportunities available within our community.

Later that evening, beginning at 6:00 pm, Dr. Moody will be addressing the issue of “50+ Workers: Making Age an Asset.”    This will be an opportunity to learn how to make your age an asset in seeking employment in today’s changing workplace.  This event will take place at the Grand Rapids Community College Wisner-Bottrall Applied Technology Center Auditorium.
